The breeze has a little bite
Not cold, but not warm and welcoming
The sky has become grey
Not angry, but not peaceful and calm
The land has begun to doze
Not slumbering, but not visibly active and alive
As the earth prepares for its winter respite, it is a reminder that we, too, should take time to slow down. Our bodies, like the soil, are brimming with vital microbial life that requires time to rest and regenerate. This winter, I will follow the rhythm of the season. I will utilize the shortened daylight hours for productivity, while allowing these old bones to rest during the long, cool nights.
I will remain productive, learning all that I can about growing and raising food in our new home. I will prepare for the reawakening of the next season, when blossoms appear on the trees and new life springs forth from the soil. It is how we were designed to live. It is time to return to this way of life.
How will you rest, recuperate, and rejuvenate your body, your mind, your spirit?
