WRITTEN BY ANN GIAQUINTO SCOTT
My name is Ann, and I‘d like to tell you a little about how Scented by Nature came to be.
My first exposure to essential oils was through Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin). It was the scent. I found that it grounded and relaxed me. It is earthy and deep. I carried it with me everywhere. When I was feeling stressed, I would take a whiff and would immediately feel better. Knowing what I know now, I honestly think that the patchouli I wore was not pure essential oil. I loved the scent, nevertheless.
About 10 years ago I noticed that scented candles, strong perfume, and even scented cat litter bothered me. My throat got scratchy, my eyes burned and watered, and if I couldn’t get away, a migraine developed. Within the last couple of years, it has escalated to the point where I have to hold my breath when I am around someone wearing too much perfume. I learned there is a name for this, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity.
I knew there had to be more people like me. I began thinking. There must be a way for others to enjoy scented products. What if they were scented by nature instead of in a laboratory?
This is where Scented by Nature begins. It is an adventure into the basics of aromatherapy and herbalism from the perspective of someone who knows how much of a difference natural scent can make. It is also my opportunity to offer a natural option to the synthetic and often toxic products found in stores.
At Scented by Nature, I am eager to share my herbal and aromatic knowledge with my readers. This is an exciting journey. I invite you to actively participate as we explore herbs, essential oils, and quality wellness products.
