I haven’t written here in so many months. I wasn’t sure I was going to keep the whole site up when it came up for renewal. It seemed like a waste of time and money. Yet here I am.

I am following my herb teacher, Heidi Villegas, over on Substack. She is writing about growing and evolving as we travel through the path of life. Recently, the topic of conversation was journaling. I no longer journal with pen and paper. Instead, I have another blog where I write more about daily life goings on. In the last two weeks, the post I managed to get published was about unexpected acute health issues. Both my husband and I were blindsided at the same time. We are both on antibiotics, which I detest, and are hopefully on the path to recovery. I will be going into more detail in future posts.

While I have been down, I have done a lot of thinking. I’ve done a lot of praying. I believe in my heart that the Father in Heaven has brought me here for a reason. There is no other explanation in my mind that comes close to clarifying the last 18-month timeline of events. I will put links below to “RamblinAnn,” where I have written about it.

I do not know what he has planned for me, but I feel so drawn to the health field, especially readiness and response. I want to be an active participant in an emergency, not someone who sits on the sidelines. Am I up for a task like that? Physically, I doubt it, but with God, anything is possible. Perhaps I will be on the sidelines, but in an active position, not a passive one.

I also feel drawn to more creative endeavors. My brain definitely works in the abstract rather than the black and white. I love to design things. While the two seem to be polar opposites, I can’t help but wonder, in the future, will the two come together? Perhaps Scented By Nature is the connection. With AI taking over the internet, distributing information that is not always correct or safe, will writing done by a human make a comeback? It is possible. It is common for us as humans to come full circle. For me, the detoured trail I have been on has led me back to Scented By Nature. It’s time for me to, once again, explore this path. I may stumble and fall along the way. When I do, I will seek new and wonderful plants to examine. Then I will get up, dust myself off, and continue. I hope you will join me.

I’m Ann

I originate from the northeast corner of the United States. Recently my husband and I packed up our lives and moved to a rural town in Middle Tennessee. I need to be outdoors in the sunshine. I need to soak in the scent of fresh-cut grass and flowers in bloom. This life change provides me with more time to have my hands and feet in the soil, growing our food and medicine. Herbalism and aromatherapy have become an intricate part of my journey toward a more natural way of living. Scented by Nature is my way of inviting you to make the break from synthetics and begin your journey to a more balanced life.
